Every day the immigration courts remain open during the COVID-19 crisis endangers children, judges, respondents, law enforcement, attorneys, and the public.
Currently, the Department of Justice Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) is still moving forward with immigration hearings for children in detention, and they are keeping offices around the nation open to enforce filing deadlines. By ignoring the guidance of countless health experts, as well as state and local leaders who have issued shelter in place orders, EOIR is putting the health and safety of children and our attorneys at risk.
